Sunday Sights

The Queen of Crime

Every Sunday I’m posting a photograph of an iconic building, location or view in London. As a tour guide, I take great pleasure in showing these world famous sights to visitors and this weekly blog series will serve as a virtual extension of my guided walks.

agathachristiememorial Hailed as the most translated author in the world, Dame Agatha Christie certainly needs no introduction. Unveiled in 2012, this memorial is shaped like a gigantic book and contains a bust of the celebrated crime writer. I recently took this photograph before catching a play in the West End and I was struck by how the neon green light of the ‘Ghost Stories’ billboard illuminated Christie’s face. What would Hercule Poirot think?

Fun fact: Did you know that ‘The Mousetrap’ is the longest running theatre show ever? On the 18th of November 2012, the legendary play celebrated its 25,000th performance!
