Sunday Sights

Beautiful Symmetry

Every Sunday I’m posting a photograph of an iconic building, location or view in London. As a tour guide, I take great pleasure in showing these world famous sights to visitors and this weekly blog series will serve as a virtual extension of my guided walks.

lincolninnsfieldhouseHome to London’s quirky Sir John Soane’s Museum, Lincoln’s Inn Fields is certainly no stranger to enthusiasts of architecture all across the world. While having a stroll around Holborn, I was particularly struck by the symmetry of Garden Court Chambers (57-58). Dating back to 1730, the semicircular porch with colonnade shown here was only added later to house by none other than Sir John Soane himself!

Fun fact: Did you know that Lincoln’s Inn Fields is the largest public square in London?
