Whimsical Wednesday

Heart of Glass

Every Wednesday I’m posting a photograph which highlights the whimsical nature of London. As a tour guide, I get to see a lot of astonishing things while researching my walks and I will use this blog series as a means of sharing these sights with you.

fortnumandmasonheartvalentine2As Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I couldn’t resist showing you one of the gigantic neon hearts adorning Fortnum and Mason’s shop windows. A stalwart of Piccadilly, this London food emporium is a perfect place to stock up on all things sweet (and savoury), including champagne, chocolates and macarons. While Fortnum’s window dressing usually tends to be on the opulent side (and I love them for it), I was pleasantly surprised by this year’s rather minimalistic approach.

The Key To My Heart

Every Wednesday I’m posting a photograph which highlights the whimsical nature of London. As a tour guide, I get to see a lot of astonishing things while researching my walks and I will use this blog series as a means of sharing these sights with you.

sloanestreetrailingsWhile recently testing out a new photography walk, I was delighted to detect a hidden heart shape in the design of this ornate garden railing in Knightsbridge. Exclusively accessible to residents, Cadogan Place Gardens is firmly under lock and key and the well-heeled shoppers and passersby of Sloane Street can only peek in from the outside.
