Whimsical Wednesday

A Lightbulb Moment

Every Wednesday I’m posting a photograph which highlights the whimsical nature of London. As a tour guide, I get to see a lot of astonishing things while researching my walks and I will use this blog series as a means of sharing these sights with you.

lightbulbsthomasnealFrom Shaftesbury Avenue to Seven Dials, there is always something quirky to explore in the area around Covent Garden. If you pop into Thomas Neal’s Centre, for example, you will encounter this illuminating chandelier made out of gigantic light bulbs. Now a pit stop for serial shoppers, this refurbished building used to be a warehouse for bananas, cucumbers and … wait for it … books in the past.
