Harrods: Omnia Omnibus Ubique

Every Sunday I’m posting a photograph of an iconic building, location or view in London. As a tour guide, I take great pleasure in showing these world famous sights to visitors and this weekly blog series will serve as a virtual extension of my guided walks.

harrodsatnightLocated in ritzy Knightsbridge, Harrods is one of London’s most iconic department stores. Its motto, Omnia Omnibus Ubique, translates to ‘All Things for All People, Everywhere’ and harks back to the golden age of the retail emporium. I took this photograph in November 2014 and I was particularly struck by how the sky looked almost like a painted stage set. Could Harrods, the Opera, be next?

Fun fact: Did you know that over 12,000 light bulbs are used to illuminate the façade of Harrods?
